NOTES:
1. Have patient drink three bottlesof Volumen over 45 minutes as specified on the Volumen 45- minute chart. The patient should drink the first bottle (450mL) during the first 15 minutes, the second bottle (450mL) during the second 15 minutes the third bottle over the last 15 minutes. After the completion of the final bottle (or after the volume the patient can tolerate during the 45 minutes), bring the patient to the scanner immediately and give the patient a cup of water on the table prior to scanning. Scan the patient as promptly as possible.
2. Encourage patients to sip and not gulp the Volumen. Put drink times on the cap of each volumen bottle to keep the patient on schedule. Try to offer the Volumen study to patient who can receive intravenous contrast.
