Usually performed for pre-op CABG
Scanning planes: Transverse images from GSV in groin scanning distally. Use split screen, without and with compression. Use calipers to delineate vessel.
- Three images with transverse measurements above knee (label AK) without and with compression
- Three images with transverse measurements below knee (label BK) without and with compression
- Measure the depth of the GSV at the distal thigh/just above knee and in the upper calf/just below knee (record on worksheet)
- Draw a sagittal mark on the distal thigh area marking the GSV for the surgeon
- If patient has had vessel harvested previously, include an image on the study and document on worksheet
- Outer-to-outer measurements
Surgeons prefer GSV diameter >2mm. Please image as much of the GSV as you are able to see.
Fill out appropriate worksheet and scan into PACS. Place copy in chart. Fax worksheet if necessary/requested.
When requested provide prelim results of concurrent carotid US studies at bottom of worksheet (SPH)
