Lung Perfusion - quantitative

RADIOPHARMACEUTICAL:
- Perfusion Tc-99m labeled macroaggregated albumin (MAA) IV
ADULT DOSE:
- Perfusion 5 mCi MAA IV
PATIENT PREP: recent thoracic imaging shows tumor
EQUIPMENT & ENERGY:
- Planar Imaging
Parameters
- Matrix 128 x 128
- Zoom 1.0
- Detector - both, configured at 90 degrees
- Patient position - supine
- Camera peaked at Tc-99m with 15% window
SCAN PROTOCOL:
- Inject patient with Tc-99m MAA IV and acquire images
- Initial images left lateral and posterior - acquired until posterior reaches 600K counts
- Remaining images acquired for time it took for posterior to acquire 600K counts
VIEWS (ventilation and perfusion)
- L lateral
- Posterior
- RPO
- LPO
- R lateral
- Anterior
PROCESSING:
- Draw tight rectangular ROIs around each lung on posterior image
- Adjust ROIs on anterior image
- Adjust acquired images for optimal viewing
- Label images
- Send images PACS
INDICATIONS: Evaluate relative pulmonary function prior to tumor removal/lung reduction surgery
