GENERAL:
*all contrast studies use fat suppression on pre/postcontrast images
T1 sequences should be spin echo (SE) for evaluation of the marrow
If there is a question of mass, osteomyelitis, abscess, or synovitis/inflammatory arthritis – contrast should be administered if GFR allows.
In the case of mass at/around a joint, single orientation precontrast T1 fat sat (generally axial or short axis) can be added with posts in 3 planes to the routine joint study if FOV and GFR allow.
